Applying Helix, and Helix Max® Low-Rise Adhesives in Cold Weather

Includes Helix and Helix Max® Low-Rise Adhesives – Cartridges, Pressure Tanks, and
Drums

Temperature Tipping Points

  • The minimum ambient temperature to apply Helix Low-Rise Adhesive is 32 F.
  • The minimum ambient temperature to apply Helix Max® Low-Rise Adhesive is
    25 F.
  • Ensure that adhesive is at least 70 F upon application.

Storage Temperature:

  • Store adhesives in a heated space between 60 – 90 F.

Guidelines and Best Practices

  • Use heated blankets to “maintain” the adhesive’s internal warmth while used in
colder temperatures. MuleHide offers power blankets for this purpose (pressure
    tanks only).
  • Do not use heater bands.
  • Place the adhesives on pallets or insulation boards to prevent contact with cold
surfaces such as concrete or metal decks. Surfaces such as cold concrete or
steel will quickly withdraw internal warmth form the adhesives.
  • Always ensure pressure panks are well shaken, for at least 30 seconds, in any
temperature during use. Be sure to shake the tank set at least once every hour
while it is in use. Do not shake drum sets.
  • Allow additional time for “string time” to occur. Reaching proper string time can
take substantially longer in colder temperatures

Note: The above are general guidelines. Please consult the Product Data Sheet (PDS)
for additional information.
