Chalk up another big “Win” in the 10-year partnership between Honey’s Roofing LLC and the Copperas Cove Independent School District.
When hail damaged the roofs of the three buildings at J.L. Williams/Lovett Ledger Elementary school in Copperas Cove, Texas, it was only natural that the district called Honey’s Roofing. Over the previous decade, the Waco, Texas-based contractor had worked on most of the district’s 14 campuses. The success of those jobs had inspired confidence, trust and loyalty.
“The relationship matters most,” said Justin Mahan, general manager with Honey’s Roofing. “If you do a bad job, you won’t be back again. In the roofing industry, opportunities sometimes only happen once. It’s what you do with that opportunity that determines if it becomes a relationship or not.”
The existing roofs – 1,240 squares of built-up systems that had, over the years, been recovered and coated – had reached the end of their useful lives. It was time for replacement.
Texas is in the heart of “Hail Alley,” so the new roofs would need to take the inevitable pummelings. Honey’s Roofing recommended a MuleHide TPO system that would meet FM Global Severe Hail criteria.
The thicker 80-mil TPO membrane will help minimize the chance of damage from hailstone strikes. Additionally, Honey’s Roofing installed a ½-inch-thick MuleHide Poly ISO 1-HD cover board, fully adhered using Helix Low-Rise Adhesive, that will provide additional protection for the 1-inch-thick layer of MuleHide Poly ISO insulation below.
New Regal Blue 24-gauge gutters, drip edge and standing seam roofing have replaced the 1990s teal and red color scheme, an update long on the school’s wish list that will deliver curb appeal for ages.
“It’s all about the details,” Mahan said. “If the details don’t look good, the whole roof doesn’t look good. If you look at these buildings from the street now, it makes all the difference.”
The new roofs are backed by a 25-year no-dollar-limit warranty from MuleHide and an additional 15-year workmanship warranty from Honey’s Roofing. Yet another confidence-builder.
And for further proof that success breeds success, Honey’s Roofing just completed a job at another of the district’s campuses and are now in the process of starting work on a third campus for the summer.
