BELOIT, WIS - With its one-step application process, new Helix™ Low-Rise Adhesive from Mule-Hide Products Co. provides quick, clean, adhesion of approved roof insulations, thermal barriers, cover boards and fleece-backed single-ply membranes to a wide variety of acceptable roofing substrates.
The two-component, construction-grade polyurethane foam is applied in a single step, saving crews time and hassle. Both parts of the adhesive are ready to use from the container – no mixing required – and are applied simultaneously in a 1:1 ratio through a static mix tip. The adhesive is applied in continuous ribbons or beads spaced 4, 6 or 12 inches apart, depending on the project and code requirements. There is no overspray. The adhesive cures fully in just minutes.
Helix Low-Rise Adhesive is odorless and solvent-free and contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) or hydro chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), making it crew-, building occupant- and environment-friendly.
The adhesive eliminates the need for mechanical fasteners, maintaining an puncture-free vapor retarder, preventing thermal bridging and protecting the structural integrity of the roof deck.
The strong bond created by Helix Low-Rise Adhesive also helps roofing systems stand up to Mother Nature. The adhesive provides superior wind uplift resistance, allowing it to be used on taller buildings and buildings in higher wind zones. In addition, it provides exceptional hail resistance when used as an adhesive for fleece-backed membranes.
Helix Low-Rise Adhesive comes in cartridge twin-pack tubes or two-tank sets. Both include one container of each of the adhesive’s two components – Part A and Part B. Cartridge twin-packs cover approximately 200-600 square feet of roof and tank sets cover approximately 1,000-3,000 square feet of roof, depending on bead spacing.
The cartridges fit most dispensing guns currently available on the market. Tank sets come with a Helix Gun Assembly (25-foot dual-hose with attached spray gun), petroleum packet, wrench, and 10 Tank Static Mix Tips. Contractors need not purchase costly specialty pumps or spray rigs. No external power source is required to run application equipment, minimizing noise disruptions for building occupants and neighbors.
Contractors can Earn a Battery-Operated Dispensing Gun
Through a limited-time introductory offer, purchases of Helix Low-Rise Adhesive can earn contractors a free battery-operated dispensing gun. To qualify, contractors must purchase 108 boxes of the adhesive, with each box containing two cartridge twin-packs, by Sept. 30, 2016. Documentation must then be submitted to Mule-Hide Products no later than Oct. 15, 2016. Additional details are available at mulehide.com.

BELOIT, WIS - The New SA-APP KoolCap® and SA-APP KoolCap® FR modified bitumen roofing membranes from Mule-Hide Products Co. deliver the safety and ease of self-adhering application, long-term performance and durability, and the benefits of a “cool roof.” Complementing the membranes is the new SA-APP KoolCap® Touch-Up Kit for treating lap areas, details and repairs.
The membranes are highly reflective, self-adhering, granular-surfaced cap sheets manufactured using a patented dual-compound technology in which a “true” APP polymer modified asphalt compound is applied to the top, weathering side and a proprietary adhesive formulation is applied to the bottom surface. They adhere to a wide variety of roofing substrates and are designed for use in new roofing, reroofing and flashing detail applications and as part of multi-ply systems.
SA-APP KoolCap FR membranes achieve Class A fire rating.
SA-APP KoolCap and SA-APP KoolCap FR are manufactured with a solvent-free, environmentally friendly thin film technology that increases granule retention, improves the membrane’s resistance to stains and discoloration, and incorporates UV stabilizers for long-term durability and performance. A high-performance polyester-reinforced mat gives the membranes exceptional tensile strength and dimensional stability.
The cap sheets maintain their bright, white surface after long-term weathering, ensuring that they retain their “cool roof” properties. They exceed the requirements of the California Title 24 Building Standard Code for energy efficiency. They are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) with an initial Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) – a measurement of a roofing membrane’s overall energy efficiency that takes both solar reflectivity and thermal emissivity into account – of 90.
Patented FastLap® granule-free roll ends and the patented SealLap® factory-applied adhesive treatment at the membrane overlap make installation quick and easy and help contractors achieve more reliable seams and end laps. Installation is flame-free, odorless and completed with hand tools, enhancing the safety of crew members and building occupants.
Each roll of membrane covers approximately 100 square feet of roof surface.
The SA-APP KoolCap Touch-Up Kit is specially formulated for use in treating membrane lap areas, details and repairs when installing SA-APP KoolCap membranes. The coating matches the membranes’ look and high solar reflectivity while helping extend roof life and enhance roofing system performance by improving granule retention and resistance to abrasions and scuffs. The coating can be thinly applied with a sprayer, roller or brush. It is available in 1-gallon cans, the amount typically required for each six or seven rolls of installed membrane.

BELOIT, WIS - The final step in any well-done TPO job is removing the dirt and scuffs that are inevitably left behind during installation. New Mule-Hide TPO with CLEAN Film from Mule-Hide Products Co. makes this task fast and simple, saving contractors time and money.
The CLEAN Film protects the membrane during installation and then is easily removed, revealing a roof ready for final inspection. No cleaning is required and there is no loss of initial solar reflectivity caused by dirt and scuffs that have accumulated during installation.
Mule-Hide TPO with CLEAN Film can be used in re-cover, re-roof and new construction jobs. It is an ideal solution when a reliable water source is unavailable, or when water conservation or water containment/runoff regulations make cleaning with water impractical.
The durable, rugged film does not shift and will withstand the most intense heat, rain, wind and exposure to ultraviolet radiation without deteriorating. The 5-foot-wide sheets can be easily pulled up by a single crew member, with stress-free, splinter-free removal ensured for 90 days after installation.
“Mule-Hide TPO with CLEAN Film can save contractors significant time and money while helping them deliver a high-quality finished product to their customers,” said Kate Baumann, director of marketing and procurement for Mule-Hide Products Co. “Pressure washing a TPO roof typically costs between $0.15 and $0.75 per square foot, and eliminating this step can save busy crews at least a day of labor.”
The CLEAN Film’s cool gray color also reduces the glare that can make working with white TPO membranes difficult on sunny days. It also enables moisture to evaporate more quickly, enhancing crew safety.

BELOIT, WIS. – New Mule-Hide® PVC KEE HP roofing systems from Mule-Hide Products deliver the strength, durability and energy efficiency expected of PVC systems, along with improved thermal performance, chemical resistance, cold-temperature flexibility, weldability and aesthetics.
The membranes and accessories are manufactured with DuPont™ Elavoy® keytone ethylene (KEE) HP polymer, a solid, high-performance, high-molecular-weight resin modifier. The polymer requires less plasticizing material to make the membrane permanently flexible and reduces plasticizer migration from the membrane, resulting in more contractor-friendly installations and helping preserve the membrane’s physical attributes for long-term performance.
The window of weldability is 51 percent greater than that offered by membranes made with the standard KEE polymer, resulting in quick, clean, consistent welds. And less smoke is created during seam welding than when working with standard PVC membranes, helping keep contractors and building occupants more comfortable.
The KEE HP plasticizer keeps the membrane flexible at temperatures as frigid as minus 51 degrees Fahrenheit, compared to minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit with standard KEE sheets, for easier installation and improved long-term performance.
Mule-Hide PVC KEE HP membranes and accessories are 67 percent more resistant to chemicals than traditional PVC sheets, making them ideally suited for such applications as restaurants, laboratories and factories.
The KEE HP polymer makes the membrane and accessories more resistant to dirt pick-up than standard KEE sheets, keeping the roof clean and looking great longer.
Enhanced resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, ozone and oxidation reduces environment-related degradation, extending the life of the roof.
Membranes are available in 50 mil, 60 mil and 80 mil thicknesses. Each thickness is available in 5-foot- and 10-foot-wide rolls that can be used in mechanically fastened or fully adhered installations. Membranes are currently available in white. Later this year, Cool Tan and Cool Gray will be added to the offering, as will Mule-Hide PVC KEE HP Fleece Back membrane in white.

BELOIT, WIS. – Mule-Hide PyroXL® Roof Deck Panels from Mule-Hide Products help builders of modular structures meet rigorous Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Class C fire-performance requirements while delivering superior EPDM wind uplift resistance, lighter overall installed roof weights and safer material handling.
Created specifically for the modular industry, the pressure-impregnated, fire-retardant plywood panels can be used in EPDM and TPO roof systems.
With a handling weight of 50 pounds, the boards are, on average, up to 9 pounds lighter than comparable Class C products. The reduced bulk makes them easier to handle during transportation, staging and installation, reducing the potential for injuries to crew members. It also reduces overall installed roof weight by 0.28 pounds per square foot – to 1.56 pounds per square foot – which is 15 percent lower than other Class C products.
The panels have an EPDM wind uplift rating of 280 pounds per square foot – as much as 70 percent higher than other Class C products, which have ratings of 165 to 240 pounds per square foot. Modular buildings with this roof assembly can be located in most coastal regions, where higher wind resistance is needed.
Mule-Hide PyroXL Roof Deck Panels can be cut with standard saw blades, rather than the carbide-tipped blades required for other fire-retardant roof deck panels, reducing contractors’ costs. Because the plywood panels contain no fiberglass, cutting them releases no airborne glass fiber or crystalline silica into the environment.
The panels ship from five strategically located points situated across North America, reducing lead times and helping prevent delays during the peak roofing season.

BELOIT, WIS. – Mule-Hide Products has introduced an improved formula of its Low-VOC Bonding Adhesive for use with EPDM and TPO roofing systems. The improved formula dries faster and is freeze-resistant, helping contractors easily and efficiently comply with increasingly stringent ozone-related regulations and the demands of projects seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
Like the Low-VOC Bonding Adhesive formula previously offered by Mule-Hide Products, the improved formula meets the volatile organic compound (VOC) content requirements of the “OTC Model Rule for Adhesives and Sealants,” established by the Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) as part of an effort by 13 Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states to reduce emissions of VOCs and meet federal air quality standards. The improved formula Low-VOC Bonding Adhesive dries in half the time of the previous formula and delivers a considerably shorter flash time than competitive products. The new formula also has better cold temperature resistance. In tests, pint-sized cans of the product stored at 10 degrees Fahrenheit did not solidify after 50 days, while other low-VOC bonding adhesives were frozen solid in only three days.
“Nearly all of the 13 OTC states have now implemented VOC regulations based on the OTC’s model rule,” said Mule-Hide Products President Daniel Piché. “Low-VOC bonding adhesives also are often selected to help earn points for the growing number of buildings seeking LEED certification. Our improved Low-VOC Bonding Adhesive meets both of these needs and helps contractors get the job done faster and with less concern about weather conditions.”
