John Van Beek

John has over seventeen years of professional experience in the building materials and construction industry.  Joining Mule-Hide as National Sales Manager in 2006, he manages a seasoned group of territory sales representatives and independent manufacturer representatives.  Prior to joining the Mule-Hide team, John was National Account Manager and Regional Sales Manager for Henry Co from 2001 to 2006 where he achieved national preferred vendor status with the national accounts he managed.  From 1998 to 2001 John held the position of International Sales Manager for Martin Marietta Specialties being promoted from a District Sales Manager position held from 1994 to 1998.  His early career was spent as a Sales Representative for American Premier and prior to that as a Project Manager for W.S. Construction Management in London England.  John is originally from Holland and completed his schooling in South Africa where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management at Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg, South Africa.

In 2005, Tony joined Mule-Hide as Controller.  Coming to Mule-Hide from the electronics distribution industry, Tony has applied his expertise to deliver topnotch administration and accounting practices for the Mule-Hide organization.  With over 13 years of accounting experience, Tony drives excellence in this critical, demanding and ever changing arena.  He leads an expert team of accounting and administration associates to ensure that our customers’ needs are met through operational efficiencies and attention to detail.  Tony holds a bachelor degree from Indiana State University.

Tim McFarland
Technical Director

Involved in the roofing and construction industry since 1976, Tim has over ten years hands-on experience specializing in single-ply and metal roofing systems and spent five years as Warranty Manager and Technical Director for Gates Engineering (a major manufacturer of EPDM, Hypalon and Neoprene roofing and waterproofing membranes). Spending two years consulting for Marriott Corporation’s Architectural and Construction Division, he then joined Mule-Hide as Technical Director in 1993. Tim leads the Mule-Hide technical support department as they provide assistance and training for product selection and specifications, engineered drawings, or field assistance with installation details to meet the needs of architects, specifiers, structural engineers, and contractors. Tim’s expertise ensures that Mule-Hide systems are time-proven, easy to install, and meet the ever-changing code requirements of the commercial roofing industry. He develops the curriculum and training materials used in the field and during hands-on training held at our national training center in Beloit, WI. Under his guidance, the warranty department delivers on its promise of a smooth application process and efficient claims administration. Tim has been a member of CSI for over fifteen years and is also a member of SPRI, RRCI, and USGBC.

Upon joining Mule-Hide in 2000 as Marketing Director, Kate researched roofing industry trends while redeploying transferable skills and expertise toward “marketing the mule”. Kate leads the Mule-Hide team in the areas of strategic marketing, market research, branding, product management, program development, and directs the marketing department to meet the unique needs of each customer segment. Kate has over thirty years of experience, having held executive and management level marketing positions in a number of industries, including commercial banking, health care, medical products, and consumer products. Kate thoroughly enjoys the challenge of foreseeing the roofing industry’s future and being a part of implementing it. Kate holds a bachelor degree from Bradley University. A member of CRRC, NRCA, RCMA, RRCI, and SPRI, she also has participated in industry roundtables and serves on the board of directors for RRCI.

Daniel Piche
President

Dan joined Mule-Hide as President in 2009. His early career included sales positions for Bristol-Myers and Domtar Construction Materials. While at Domtar, Dan was promoted to Product Marketing Manager and then Regional Sales Manager. Next, he spent nearly eighteen years with Owens Corning. First serving in various marketing roles for their Canadian operations, he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager-Western Canada in 1993. Dan moved to Toledo, OH in 1996 holding a number of sales, marketing, sourcing, and supply chain positions for Owens Corning. Director of Sales-Distribution, and General Manager-Residential Roofing completed his Owens Corning career. Dan then accepted the position of President at American Slate Co. His diverse background brings a wide-range of expertise to Mule-Hide, where Dan leads a team of bright, capable people, and believes in giving them the autonomy to do their jobs, while providing strategic direction to inspire them to excellence. The end result is consistent delivery of products based on innovative technology that only comes from world-class talent. Dan is a graduate of the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree.
