Bright White Granules Deliver Long-Lasting Cool Roof Performance |

BELOIT, Wis. – New KoolCap™ Self-Adhering Mod Bit cap sheets from Mule-Hide® Products Co. Inc. meet CA Title 24 standards for reflectivity and emissivity while delivering long-lasting performance and fast, easy application. The new membranes will be available in both APP and SBS formulations beginning April 30 at ABC Supply Co. Inc. centers nationwide. The top surface of KoolCap sheets consists of proprietary bright white granules that provide high levels of reflectivity and emissivity without the need for a separate, factory-applied coating. So while factory-coated mod bit membranes can fade or discolor in as little as three years, or crack when maintenance crews walk on them, KoolCap sheets will maintain their cool roof properties. The weathering and performance characteristics of the white granules are similar to those of traditional granules, and they deliver reflectivity as rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC®) to meet ASTM International, and CA Title 24 standards. The new KoolCap sheets join the Mule-Hide industry-leading palette of self-adhering mod bit colors that also includes standard white, buff, oak, weatherwood, black, chestnut, pine green, red blend, grey slate and two special order colors – solid green and solid red. The smaller granules offer superior granule retention, making KoolCap an attractive choice for use in a wide variety of applications, including commercial low-slope projects and installations where a low-slope area is adjacent to a steep-slope shingled roof. Manufactured with patented Adeso® self-adhesive technology, Mule-Hide Self-Adhering membranes feature a “true” APP or SBS on the top (weathering) surface and a new-generation, pressure-sensitive adhesive on the bottom of the reinforcement. They adhere to eight different substrates with no need for hot asphalt and open flames, making them an ideal choice for projects requiring clean, safe application. With no fumes and no solvent-based adhesives, they also are an environmentally friendly option. Fast, easy installation minimizes disruption to building occupants and operations. Contractors simply place the sheet, remove the release film and roll. SEALLap® extra adhesive selvage treatment on side and end laps delivers instant bonding roll-to-roll and enhanced sealability.
