Mule-Hide Products Co., Inc., Beloit Wisconsin, announces project completion of 500+ units specially built for and setup by Resun Leasing to provide temporary buildings for the 2002 Salt Lake City, Utah, winter events. The factory built structures were for a variety of uses and when Resun Leasing, Incorporated ("Resun") won the contract in April 2000, 500+ units were specified for construction with the Mule-Hide EPDM Roofing System. In total, Resun supplied nearly 800 units for use at the fifteen venues in and around Salt Lake City. From open sheltered spaces to allow athletes to prepare their skis to ticket booths, first aid rooms, security offices, communications areas, general offices, construction offices, hospitality suites, storage areas, timing booths, judging booths, and press offices. Four wholesale manufacturers newly manufactured the 500+ units with Mule-Hide Roofs. ATCO Structures, Diboll, TX, C & B Custom Modular, Elkhart, IN, Indicom Buildings, Burleson, TX, and Miller Building Systems, Elkhart, IN.

"Mule-Hide was awarded the specification by Resun due to our proven performance in delivering professional roofing systems designed for the unique needs of modular construction and multi-unit setups. Both modular dealers and manufacturers trust Mule-Hide to provide total roofing systems and work with them to ensure compatibility and related performance of interfacing products," states Walt Griffin, Mule-Hide Modular Program Manager.

"The project was exciting and challenging," states Scott Zweifel, Resun Corporate headquarters project communications manager. "The multi-story units were originally to be completed in October. But due to September 11th, which created increased inspections for security reasons, construction of the park and ride lots where we were to store our units prior to setup were delayed. We ended up starting shipping units mid July, finishing setup on January 3, 2002," added Zweifel.

Mike Bollero, VP Major Projects, Brad Archer, Major Projects Manager, and four Resun project managers handled the project from the Resun Houston office, coordinating delivery of the units from the manufacturers as well as the setup. Just 5 setup crews with a total of 30 workers and foremen were utilized. This clearly demonstrates the outstanding benefits of temporary modular buildings built to meet or exceed conventional building standards in record time.

According to Zweifel, "The snow basin buildings had to be designed for 150-pound snow loads and set atop scaffolding in an area with 80 m.p.h. wind gusts. The Mule-Hide EPDM fully adhered roofing system met these tough requirements. Mule-Hide's new Self-Bridging Mate-LineTM dramatically saves labor on multi-unit setup and dismantling."

Mule-Hide Modular Roofing Systems are sold nationwide and in Canada at 21 local distributors near modular plants and offices. ABC Supply Company (primary distributor) and independent distributors utilize Mule-Hide cutting tables and special roll sizes of Mule-Hide single-ply to deliver custom size sheets to fit modular units. The Mule-Hide fully adhered roofing system using Mule-Hide Acrylic Water Base Bonding Adhesive, a must for in-plant installation, is fast to keep factory lines moving, a critical factor in the Salt Lake City project being completed on time.
