Mule-Hide is climbing the walls.

Nestled on the banks of the Alabama river in Riverfront Park, Montgomery, Alabama, restsImage this grand old grain silo that was built in the mid nineteen-hundreds. In 1990, J.B. Crosby General Contractors remodeled it into an office for the Coast Guard and later for use as part of the Visitor's Center. Years later, the outside walls were in terrible condition. In August of 2000, the Montgomery Department of Property Maintenance decided to refurbish the structure and chose Mule-Hide Elastomeric Acrylic Coatings for the project. Thanks to Mule-Hide, this southern beauty once again stands tall and proud on the banks of this gracious community.

ImageMule-Hide and ABC Supply were proud to have been a part of the restoration of this historic structure. The ABC Supply Commercial Outside Sales Rep along with the Mule-Hide Field Sales Rep worked together from the initial inspection and system recommendation to assisting the Montgomery crew on proper application and final inspection. The Mule-Hide Coating System was selected for its restoration attributes and its long lifecycle.

Paint and coatings applicators will tell you that cracks in masonry surfaces are as inevitable as death and taxes and many will also say that conventional masonry paints will not solve the cracking problem. That's why paint and coatings applicators throughout the Sun Belt and elsewhere are switching to thicker wall coatings with elastic qualities that can stretch to span cracks that may develop and expand and to provide an effective moisture barrier from wind-driven rain.

ImageThe city maintenance crew of three spent about 2 months tackling the tasks involved. After preparing the concrete the crew filled the cracks with approximately 60 gallons of Mule-Hide A-200 Flashing Grade Sealant. Next they applied 360 gallons of Mule-Hide A-400-W Masonry Wall Coating as a finish coat. Since Mule-Hide manufactures a complete line of Acrylic Coatings, there are no compatibility issues between the sealant and the finish coating. Plus, unlike some wall coatings, the resin used in Mule-Hide A-400-W features the same popular dirt pickup resistance as in Mule-Hide A-300.

Mule-Hide A-400-W Wall Coating represents one of the best-kept secrets. It's easy to apply and opportunities like this one in Riverfront Park exist in many communities.
